Hi All

Another opportunity to apply for Royal Academy of Engineering Funding! Anyone keen to pull together a group application? We’d need to get a bunch of engineers onboard.

##About Ingenious

Ingenious is an awards scheme for projects that engage the public with engineers and engineering.

Ingenious has funded over 189 projects to date, providing opportunities for over 5,000 engineers to take part in public engagement activities, to gain skills in communication and to bring engineering to the very centre of society.

The Ingenious awards programme aims to:

  • Inspire creative public engagement with engineering projects
  • Motivate engineers to share their stories, passion and expertise with wider audiences and develop their communication and engagement skills
  • Raise awareness of the diversity, nature and impact of engineering amongst people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Provide opportunities for engineers to engage with members of the public from groups currently underrepresented in engineering

Funding is available from £3,000 to £30,000.

We prioritise projects that reach diverse and underrepresented audiences including communities in the top 25% most deprived neighbourhoods in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and that engage with engineers and publics of different genders, ages and ethnic backgrounds.

Ingenious is supported by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Very interesting!
Hope we can get more engineering support!

Katia and I are meeting Michael Sutcliffe (Bioengineering Division Leader) and John Clarkson (Director of the Cambridge Engineering Design Centre) at the space on 20 July so fingers crossed! If you wanted to join us Faith you’d be welcome.

Also, the SynBio Society has quite a lot of engineers involved and they’re planning to use the space so hopefully that will help at least at the student level!

I specifically spoke to a few engineers about this last year and there was interest but we didn’t manage to get anything off the ground. It would be a good grant to go for the Bento Labs on.
